CCIRA Membership Statement

CCIRA is a professional organization of educators, a nonprofit literacy organization founded in 1966 to support teaching and learning in the state of Colorado.

We have decided to discontinue membership in our organization effective immediately. This was a difficult decision made by our Board of Directors based on changing enrollment over the past 5 years.

What does this mean moving forward?

CCIRA will continue to host the annual conference and will have an early bird and regular conference rate. There will no longer be a member/non-member rate. Additionally, anyone will be able to attend any/all local council events. We will continue to send out a monthly newsletter, host the CCIRA podcast, blog, support local councils for professional development, and open grants and awards to all educators. We will begin to develop a more comprehensive email list to keep you all informed of new and upcoming opportunities.

Why Continue CCIRA?

Research demonstrates over and over again that the single most influential factor in student learning is the classroom teacher. Professional organizations like CCIRA play an essential role in enhancing and fortifying teachers' and school leaders' knowledge and capacities. And since literacy skills are the great equalizer, being able to read, write and communicate clearly continues to be of the utmost importance for all students. Doors open to individuals who are able to both critically consume and effectively share ideas. CCIRA is an essential source of support for educators as they continue to navigate the complex work of preparing students for a future yet to be imagined.

Continue to Engage in and Support CCIRA

We believe that professional organizations create a community and a network of educators who place great value on their own growth. Collaboration that is separate and independent from the work of your district, school, or state requirements is a critical part of continuing an educator’s own professional development.
